We all know what it feels like to work on your iPad and get that mini panic attack when the ‘Battery Low’ signal comes on. If you’re out and about, so nowhere near a plug-socket, it’s good to know a few little tricks that will ensure you get as much as possible from those last percent of battery life left on your iPad.

Here’s a list of things to do to save your battery life:

Turn it down – Screen Brightness
What – As much as it doesn’t seem like it would make a big difference, turning down the brightness of your iPad screen helps save quite a bit of power. The amazing screen uses up vast amount of battery quickly, so the lower your screen brightness is, the less battery gets used.
How – It’s really simple. Just head to Settings and tap on Brightness. Use the slider to turn down the screen brightness to the lowest you can have it without losing sight of the screen completely.

Turn it off – Location
What – While many are often unaware or simply not paying attention to the Location Services, these are often automatically on and eating your battery life. You can save power by turning this off. On the other hand, if you use the location services, you can turn them off for each individual mobile app you don’t use it with.
How – Simply go to Settings and then Location Services to turn it on or off.

Turn it off – Radio(s)
What – It’s pretty simple – if you are using your iPad offline, turn Wi-Fi and 3G services off. This also goes for Bluetooth, which is another one of those services many users are unaware are even on in the first place.
How – For Wi-Fi and Cellular Data, you can switch them off in their respective pane in Settings. For Bluetooth, head to Settings, then General, and you’ll find Bluetooth in there.

Turn it off – All at once
What – If you are using your iPad offline, for example by enjoying a movie on the device, the easiest way to save battery and make sure none of the services that you’re not using are on is by turning Airplane Mode on. This will not only turn off all radio use, but also kill your GPS and Location Services on the iPad.
How – The Airplane Mode switch is on the Home Screen.

Do it offline
What – If you are able to download music and videos to your iPad rather than stream them online, you will save your iPad tons of battery. Same goes for documents – if you edit them online you use a lot more power than if you download them to your iPad and then upload the edited version when you’re closer to a power plug.
How – Simply make sure all the media and documents you need on your iPad are there while you can charge it, so once you’re on the road you can turn off yor services and use your iPad offline.
