While is an every growing variety of different tablets on the market, from Android tablets to the most recent Windows tablets, the increasing amount of users buying tablets means Apple’s iPad is still the tablet market leader to the same degree it was in 2010!

According to an article in TabTimes, research company Strategy Analytics showed that in Q2 of 2012 Apple with it’s iPad increased its accountability of the tablet market to 68 percent, while Android had no increase since Q2 of 2011 and stayed at 29 percent.

While the number of global tablet shipments hit 25 million and rising to 67 percent, that quarter Apple shipped 17 million iPads and clearly led the way. Strategy Analytics pointed out that this was the highest market penetration the iPad has had since the third quarter of 2010.

On the other end, while the number of Android tablet shipments rose to 7.3 million, the company simply maintained their market share of 29 percent from last year. Even more so, Microsoft’s share in the tablet market is only at 1 percent although this is expected to change for the better after the launch of Windows 8, and the tablet market share of Blackberry owners RIM is hardly worth mentioning at a mere 0.3 percent.

It’s clear that when it comes to tablets, the iPad is the clear favourite for consumers. After all the forecast of iPad shipments rose to 107 million for 2012 and the use of iPads in the USA alone is expected to rise to 90 percent this year.
